The Sedona Heritage Museum offers a two hour educational program with hands-on experiences for local school children. The Pioneer Day program is geared to the fourth grade local history curriculum, but can be adapted for other grade levels.

Some of the activities include bread/biscuit baking, branding demonstrations, and doing laundry the "old-fashioned" way. The children will learn about the early settlers of Sedona, the movie industry and the making of Western movies, and the cowboy's life. Since the Jordan farm was a commercial apple and peach orchard, seeing the apple grading machine sorting our "Spalding" apples is a highlight for many of our young visitors.

Smaller groups of children, such as Home School groups, can be accommodated with a modified program that includes a scavenger hunt.

This program is free, but limited to one school group per month from January to June. Early reservations are recommended.

Our library and archives are available for research on local history projects for older students.
